Xipe Totec is the Atzlánti god of maize and growing things.

Overview[]

Xipe Totec represents the transformation of death into new life. Many of his rites require not just blood but skin — sometimes animal, sometimes human. Once he's donned such a grim cloak, Xipe Totec can conjure gold from thin air, cause seeds to sprout, inflict or cure illness, turn the seasons, and drive away titanspawn — or even Titans. He can also take on the trains of the specific being whose skin he dons. If he is laced into the skin like a corset, he can become that person fully and completely.

In the modern World, Xipe Tote often works with plants, whether as a gardener, farmer, or landscape architect. He also likes being on stage as an actor or musician, though his demonstrations of the cycle of death and rebirth often unsettle his audience. In the winter he's a loner, but come spring he becomes cheerful and gregarious again. He often throws a party around the end of March ... and takes the place of one of the guests.

Xipe Totec's Scions share his interest in the natural cycles: they're doctors specializing in gerontology or obstetrics, they have lush gardens and big families, or they go into art to leave an immortal legacy. Many are also uncomfortable in their own skins, constantly questioning their own identity, though this often makes them excellent actors and spies.
