Background Information[]
Former Anarch turned "Dirty Boot" (Hound), Cecily Bain, kills the human lover of Cordell Block despite the fact that she would never betray the Masquerade. Cecily visits her sister and debates embracing the now-demented old woman. Afterward, she discovers a young newly-Embraced woman named Alejandra that she chooses to pass off as her own childer. Cecily has the standing offer by Prince Samantha Merrain to Embrace as a reward for her services and takes it. Cordell gives information on the Prince's affairs to Nosferatu Anarchs in hopes of getting revenge on Cecily. They are promptly killed by the Wolves in Sheep's Clothing that soon capture Cordell. Cecily ends up investigating the murders and steals the thumb drive that Cordell had given them. During this, an unknown party (that turns out to be Calder Wendt), murders Prince Merrain.
After failing to rescue Cordell from the Hunters, Cecily finds herself framed for the Prince's murder. Cecily manages to survive the resulting Blood Hunt and forges a deal with the new Prince. During all this, Colleen Pendergrass and her band of Anarchs are asked by a mysterious patron to visit the Twin Cities. This proves difficult as they do not have access to steady blood supplies or transport during the daytime. King Rat, Mitch Pendergrass, and Priscilla accompany Colleen even as they are almost destroyed by Second Inquisition hunters. They manage to capture one but she is ghouled then taken by Priscilla, who is revealed to be a Ministry agent pretending to be a Toreador. When they finally reach the Twin Cities, King Rat and Cecily are revealed to be old friends. They part as good friends.
