Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition is the latest version of Werewolf: The Apocalypse. It was developed by Paradox Interactive and published through Renegade Game Studios.
Summary[]
From the official press release by Hunters Entertainment[1]:
“ | Players will play as Garou, individuals born of two worlds, the material and the Umbra (spirit world), who can shapeshift into wolves at will. In Werewolf: The Apocalypse the world, Gaia, is dying. After many generations, the Garou - Gaia’s chosen warriors and defenders - are divided on how to save the planet, their spiritual mother. Attacked by outside forces and plagued by infighting, each Garou tribe shares different ideologies and goals, which have - up to this point - all failed them in their ultimate goal, to rescue a dying Gaia. | ” |
From the back of the book:
- Gaia is dying.
- The ices melt, while the seas swell.
- The heat rises, while the forests wither.
- Extinction threatens millions, in favor of the few.
- The Garou - warlike shapeshifters torn between Rage and spirit, between Wolf and Man, and champions of the earth-mother - have failed.
- The Apocalypse is here.
- Yet, a new generation of Garou now call upon their Rage to confront the forces of destruction, avarice, and greed ravaging the earth-mother. With tooth and claw the Garou will wrest her from the brink of death - or follow her enemies to the grave.
- Will you answer their howl?
- What legends will the Garou sing of you?
- When will you Rage?
- A Storytelling Game of Environmental and Spiritual Horror

Background Information[]
- The game was originally being developed by Renegade partner Hunters Entertainment until late 2020, when Paradox announced the consolidation of all future World of Darkness development under the supervision of the brand management team.
- Unlike the fifth Edition of Vampire: The Masquerade, which sees itself as a continuation of previous editions, Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition instead understands itself as a re-imagining of Werewolf built on the core themes of the original game, similar to Werewolf: The Forsaken.[3]
