This entry is based on the FAQ/Walkthrough/Guide (provided as "VTMB Walkthrough.txt") in installations of the Bloodlines Unofficial patch. The Guide was originally created by vampyri_lestat, with modifications by Wesp5.

Quest names listed in bold are part of the main questline. Other names are side quests, and are optional. Options listed with a plus (+) have been added with the Plus version of the Unofficial Patch.

VTM: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines takes place in late October 2004, over the course of approximately two weeks, beginning around October 18 and ending early in the morning on November 1.

You will be asked to create a character from one of seven clans. These are the seven clans stereotypically identified with the Camarilla.

For information regarding items, see Items.

Introduction[]

After watching the introductory cutscene in your sire's apartment and the Nocturne Theatre, you'll get your first quest, Jyhad for Beginners, which takes you through the rest of the tutorial.

This quest is both part of the main quest, but also optional: if the player skips the introduction (or tells Jack they're too impatient to learn all the rules), then they'll skip right to Act 1: Santa Monica.

You'll be taken to your first haven and be given a quest:

  • Quest:Wherefore Art Thou, Mercurio?

This will be your main base from now on. Be sure to come back regularly and check your mails. You can turn the TV on if you like, or listen to the radio, they are both pretty funny. Also, don't forget to grab the pill bottle and the normal watch from the bathroom.

Open the Fridge and take the 3 blood packs, or blue blood packs if you are a Ventrue, if used they will restore your blood points.

Read Mercurio's note and log into your computer using the password "sunrise". Check your emails.

As Mercurio's note indicates, open your desk drawer and grab the $100.

Read the card on the table to get the The Regent's Riddle quest.

Leave, go down the stairs and read the paper on the floor:

  • Quest:Carnival Of Death

Just before you leave through the front door, note your mailbox to your right (with "Nivbed" scratched out). Future deliveries will be found here.

Outside, you'll be accosted by a homeless man, who will ask for some change. You can give him some change for a Humanity boost, leave him alone, or feed on him.

As you walk further down the alley, you'll see a cutscene with a bloodied man crawling into a building... a building at the end of the alley and to the right, exactly where Mercurio said he could be found.

Between you and the entrance is an upper-class victim, who you may intimidate or persuade into giving you money, or seduce him into following you into the alley for feeding.

If you visit the front of your building, you'll find Trip's Pawnshop. Trip is the area's main vendor. Initially he won't sell weapons, but With sufficient persuasion (or a good word from Arthur Kilpatrick, Knox Harrington, or Mercurio), he'll open up his special stock.

  • Skill books Computers for Grandma and So You Wanna Shoot Things? will be available for purchase in the base game, but not in the Plus patch: the books have been moved elsewhere.

+Ask Trip if he's on drugs to get

Across the road, in front of the Santa Monica Medical Clinic, you'll see an excitable guy in a grey jacket. You should talk to him to learn what a ghoul is.

Enter the Santa Monica Suites and follow the trail of blood to find Mercurio. He'll give you the Surf's Up quest. Ask him if you can do anything to ease his pain to get the The Pain Of Being Mercurio quest.

Visit the Medical Clinic. The Santa Monica Medical Clinic triage nurse can be persuaded through dialog or Discipline usage to let you into the back area. Alternately, you can enter through the side door (labeled "Blood Bank") and, once inside, lockpick your way into the main floor.

In one of the first rooms, you'll see an injured woman, Heather Poe. Speaking to her will get you the Trick Or Treatment quest (the Basic patch may not assign a quest, but the actions are the same). If you fail to complete the quest by the time you reach Act 2, she'll disappear from this room, and her name will be added to the Morgue computer downstairs.

Visit the clinic administrator's office, and read his email.

  • +Pick up Computers for Grandma from his desk.
  • Learn that the morphine bottles you're after aren't upstairs in Controlled Substances, but are probably locked in Malcolm's office.
  • Learn that a password for one of the computers upstairs is the name of "Malcolm's dirty little secret."

If the triage nurse has given you permission to go upstairs, you can enter the vents in the Maintenance room, and drop down to a file storage room, which contains a key to Malcolm's office. Alternately, you can go to the Blood Bank, access the locked area behind Vandal Cleaver, go past the Morgue, and walk up the back staircase to access the file storage room to get the key. Or you can just lockpick Malcolm's door open.

  • Grab the morphine bottles from the desk. You'll only need one bottle for Mercurio; any further morphine you find can be sold to a vendor.
  • Read Malcolm's email to learn the name of his dirty little secret
  • Read all of Malcolm's emails to learn enough to blackmail him.

If you return to Malcolm and use this information against him, you can earn 75$ (150$ with Intimidation).

  • Malcolm will send the mail to your apartment mailbox in the base game, but in Plus, he hides it behind a plant in the Santa Monica Suites foyer.
