The Arcadian School of Artistry is an entitlement devoted to recording the beautiful or striking facets of changeling existence.
Background[]
Created by the Spring courtier William Frieze, the Arcadian School is devoted to recording the beautiful or striking facets of the changeling condition. What this is will often vary depending on the artist — for example, an Autumn changeling may sculpt a nightmare statue the very sight of which can threaten Clarity; a Winter courtier may, by contrast, create a mournful painting that could bring one to tears in an instant. Members of this order often go into the Hedge or the Skein to find inspiration for their works.
Organization[]
Not a very organized group, the School mostly communicates at a local level, organizing events and showcases open to the Lost or, on occasion, mortals. Though there is no true hierarchy, those who are noted as particularly skilled with one or more disciplines are often afforded respect and are willing to act as instructors for others.
Joining and Membership[]
Prerequisites: Expression or Crafts 3, Artistic Specialty (Painting, Ceramics, etc.), Wyrd 3
Title: Arcadian Artist; Artist
As an order of changeling artists, the School accepts those from all branches of artistry: ceramic, glass, paint, sketches, graphic design — if it is art in some form, the prospective is welcome. It is not uncommon for an artist to take on an apprentice in whom he sees some measure of talent. Similarly, one may appeal to an artist for such an apprenticeship. Though courtiers of the Spring and South Courts are most common, they are by no means the only Courts with a presence in the entitlement. Unsurprisingly, Crafts and Expression are common Skills; Strength is common among metal-workers, while Dexterity is frequently taken by painters, sculptors, and the like.
Mien[]
Lacking an immediate change, artists’ miens only shift upon completion of works of art; at this time, their work begins to appear on their skin, moving along their bodies day to day.
Privileges[]
- Painter's Pride: All clauses of the Colors and Artist Contracts accept use of the changeling’s artistic Specialty. These Contracts are affinity.
Rumors[]
- The artists, to a man, believe the key to their magnum opus lies in Arcadia itself — and they are willing to make a deal with the Gentry to get there.
- The changeling condition is not the only potent inspiration for the order; they have been making overtures to the other beings of this world, unwittingly revealing the freehold to them.
- Their focus on fae matters has sent their Clarity down the crapper. The artists' madness is a ticking time bomb, just waiting to go off in the freehold's face.
