Summary[]
- The Final Call to Battle
- This first book of White Wolf's exciting new Tribe Novel series shows the Garou - the werewolves of the World of Darkness - at their best and at the worst. In Shadow Lords, we see how the fractious Garou struggle for dominance over one another, and in Get of Fenris, at a Concolation - the largest gathering of Garou - we see them standing together in their endless war against the Wyrm. But how long can the Garou continue to fight this war? Their numbers are diminishing, and as this seven-book series will reveal, their past is being taken from them as well.

About the Author[]
Background Information[]
In the Shadow Lord novel, Vladimir Bily and Oksana Maslov conspire against the Silver Fang, Victor Svorenko.
Meanwhile, Yaroslav Ivanovych Neyizhsalo secretly works with Fomori and unfortunately gets Liudmila killed as part of a dark rite. Victor, Arne Wyrmbane and Lord Arkady discover Yaroslav, but Yaroslav talks them out of killing him. Leading them to a cave, they find and fight a Thunderwyrm. Arne ends up getting killed, while Lord Arkady commands the Thunderwyrm to no longer attack.
The Get of Fenris novel deals with the fallout of the previous novel: with Arne's father, Brand Garmson, wanting revenge for the death of his son. Cries Havoc, a member of the Sept of the Dawn, is held as a peace hostage at Sept of the Anvil-Klaiven.
A Concolation is called, but a group of Black Spiral Dancers come under the banner of a truce and claim to be kinsmen of Lord Arkady.
Memorable Quotes[]
“There is a voice within us,” Arkady said, his words strangely amplified by the fiery nimbus encompassing him, “that if we but speak, all creation will obey.” - Pg. 123
There was no two ways about it: The wretched tune was stuck in Korda Laszlo’s head. Three times today he thought he’d banished it, and thrice he’d again caught himself humming. The verses themselves were innocuous enough, if a bit forced in their rhyme scheme, but the refrain – the refrain was catchy, in a infuriatingly inane way: “Wherever goes Konietzko/there it is that I go…. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…. Lord of the Night Sky/stand by his side till doom is nigh.” - Pg. 128
If the presence of this tail disturbed Mari, she gave little outward sign of it. In fact, she smiled, hearing Albrecht’s voice in her mind, raised in exasperation. About as useful as a second tail. It was one of his favorite ‘regal’ pronouncements. - Pg. 241
“So we shall,” Karin replied. “I find your suggestion a most auspicious one. Two packs: body and soul, the physical and the spiritual.”
“A tripod with but two legs topples,” came an ominous voice from near the fire. “And woe to him who shelters beneath such an ill-fated scheme.”….
“The Fates are three,” he continued, speaking into the flames, oblivious to the attention turned upon him. “And the Furies, three. Luna herself has three faces: Virgin, Mother and Crone. And the old Wyrm has three segments: Beast-of-War, Eater-of-Souls and Defiler Wyrm. All of creation is a Triat: Weaver, Wyrm and Wyld. And Gaia’s children, they have three aspects as well. But only two can they remember. They see her, yes. They certainly feel her. Now why, I wonder, can they not remember?”
“Who speaks thus, reproving the Garou for forgetfulness? Stand forward,” Jotun Threeships challenged.
.… “Ah, that’s all it needed was another leg,” the stranger said, slapping his companion on the back. “A man can barely stand on two legs, but give him a third and he’ll go places.” ...
“I am called Antonine Teardrop. I thank you for your hospitality. In return, you are welcome to my Riddle of Threes. If you heed it, you might yet save your people a great calamity.”
“You say there is something that we have forgotten,” Karin said. “Some oversight in the Margrave’s plan?”
“No, you said that,” Antonine correctly gently. “But you say rightly.”
“Or do you mean,” the Margrave said, “that there is something that we have forgotten as a people? Some knowing that is lost to us?”
“And that also is spoken rightly. And the longer you do not act, the more knowing slips from you. This much I have seen. Perhaps more. It is so hard to recall.”
“You must speak plainly,” called Jotun Threeships in exasperation. “I can’t make heads nor tails of your words. If you mean to warn us, you will have to do a better job of it.
“Very well, I will strike a bargain with you. I will speak my warning more plainly if, in return, you will grant me a boon.”
“What boon is it that you ask, Antonine Teardrop?” Karin asked shrewdly.
“Only this: that when you discover what must be done, you will allow me to chose who will do it.”
Karin glanced at the Margrave and he shrugged, feigning disinterest. “Done,” she said.
Antonine bowed. “Excellent. The meaning of the Riddle of Three is this – that like our patron, Luna, the Garou have a triune nature. We are body and spirit, yes. But we are something more. We are a repository of memory, creatures of the Litany and the Record. We are story and song, history and tradition. Any quest, such as the one you have outlined, that does not take this third aspect into account, is doomed not only to fail, but ultimately to be forgotten.”
“A third pack,” Karin said, comprehension dawning. “Body, Spirit and Mind. But what will this third pack do?”
“It must search for the root of the problem among the detritus of the Garou’s past,” Antonine replied. “Sometimes only by going backward can you go forward.”
More riddles. Karin laughed and shook her head. - Pg. 278-282
