The Time Before was a period of paradise for humanity, wherein nature would readily accede to the demands of the people.[1] At some point, a series of catastrophes struck that ended this idyllic state.[2] The Wise among the Vinča claim that "...gods fell to fighting among themselves, the People ceased to respect them, and the world was split asunder as a dark hunter glutted itself on the glories of that time."[2]
It is currently nigh-impossible to catch a glimpse of what once was; mages cannot normally view this period using the Time Arcanum.[2] There are, however, remnants that suggest its prior existence: regions of Shattered Time from which it can be scried, and in which reality has a much more tenuous hold.[2]
Speculation[]
It is possible that the Time Before spoken of in the Neolithic is the time of Atlantis discussed by modern mages. Neither time can be scried using the Arcana,[3] and the notion of "gods fighting among themselves" would fit with the notion of the first wizards' war, with the Abyss acting metaphorically as the "dark hunter".[4]
