The Journey was one of the early films from Elegant Pictures, released on October 18, 1996. A departure from the studio's previous B-movie fare, The Journey was a dramatic biopic about studio founder Howard Barclay, and marked a turning point for the studio.

Only a few weeks after release, a reviewer from the Angel Times declared The Journey to be the best movie of the year. which seemed to be par for the course from the studio at the time.[1] The film was nominated for Best Biopic, and went on to win Best Actor for Alan Vincent.

The film starred Alan Vincent as Howard Barclay, with James Hunt, Oscar Burman, Sara Southman, Andreas Juliusson, Erik Odelvalley, Per Smith, Fredric Flight, Kristoffer Benjamin, Benny K. Karlsson, Jim Swanberg, Kristoffer Bear, Martin Larsson, Paul Schakonaut, Pontus P. Hasis, Jocky Lunde, Daniel K. Kallander, and Henrik Lundleaf.

Cinematographer Helen Richards was fired from the set for drug use, after which she moved back to New York City.[2]
