Edited history on Apocalypse to more clearly indicate what had caused its initial downturn. Earlier edit had incorrectly identified it as Wizards of the Coast trademarking the 'tapping' mechanic. This was incorrect as that did not occur until Rage: tribal War had been created and because Rage does not use tapping, so was unaffected.

Actually, if you read the edit, it stated that WotC claimed copyright over all CCGs, not over the tapping mechanic in specific. Which I believe is the case. There were hundreds of CCGs that had to be shut down because WotC claimed rights over all of them (and the courts agreed). IanWatson 18:51, 13 Oct 2005 (UTC)

It still fell in the wrong time period. Wizards gots its patent in 1997, almost two years after Apocalyse stopped production. So the patent was not the cause of the discontinuation. One of the key aspects of the patent is the tapping mechanic. Games that don't use it, which Rage does not, are on questionable ground as to whether they fall under the patent or not.

So better to leave out the patent part entirely since it had no bearing on Rage success or failure because it didn't exist when Apocalypse folded and Tribal War was one of their own products, so unaffected. -Fenrislorsrai
