Susano-o is the Japanese god of the sea and storms, and a member of the Amatsukami pantheon.
Overview[]
Susano-o is a temperamental god, and can frequently be found heading out on some adventure or another (usually because he's no longer welcome wherever he was last). In one legend, he visited with his sister Amaterasu, and had a "friendly" competition creating humans. When Amaterasu won, Susano-o's temper tantrum included killing one of her attendants, ruining her fields, and throwing a skinned, dead horse into her loom. That's the sort of conduct that gets him kicked out of Takamagahara, usually with some list of tasks to complete before he's allowed back in.
Susano-o doesn't actually mind these exiles, because the World is so exciting. He can be found at street protests, guerilla wars, fireworks shows and revolutions — anywhere the opportunity to create some chaos exists, especially if there's a TV camera nearby. Jumping out of airplanes surfing in a hurricane are that much better if an audience of millions can see him doing it.
Susano-o's Scions are thrill seekers like their parent. They cause problems everywhere they go, whether it's making a scene in a restaurant or committing war crimes in battle, but they usually wriggle out of the consequences. They're also apt to throw themselves into an incredibly stupid project that still somehow succeeds beyond everyone's wildest dreams. And they always a wonderful time. But it's important that their shenanigans have an audience, so that someone else can confirm their achievements later on.
