The Spirit-Claimed (First Tongue: Duguthim) are humans who have entirely merged with spirits.[1][2][3][4]
Overview[]
As a general rule, a spirit tends to seek out those mortals who best embody that spirit's narrow purview.[3] A spirit of gluttony might seek out a gourmand, for example. The closer the match is, the more quickly their minds and natures merge.[5] This usually takes the form of the Ridden mortal beginning to take on new perspectives and slowly mutating physically, all the while maintaining a core vestige of who the person was initially — certain hobbies or prized possessions, perhaps.[5]
In Neolithic times, the lack of a state of Twilight prior to Pangaea's fall caused the mutation plaguing the Claimed to speed up, rapidly turning them into shambling horrors.[6] They tended to be kept away from the communities.[7]
The gestalt being is capable of utilizing its Influence and powers known as Aspects.[8] However, Numina are beyond its reach.[8]
