The Sleeping Giant is a Chimera of Hawaii.
Overview[]
The mountain range on Kaua'i was once a living giant who laid there to rest after a feast. Menehune tried to wake him up by throwing rocks at him, which he did not like at all, so he ate the Menehune and went back to sleep, his body slowly turning to rock as the years passed. He is obviously now the dream of an earlier time, and no one knows why he still exists.
Sometimes, on nights of rare Glamour, the giant's sleeping body can be seen among (as part of?) the mountains. But he does not want to to be awakened. If someone is successful at this task, the giant will try to eat them, and then roll over again to continue its centuries-long nap. No one knows why he sleeps so long, but they wonder what would happen if he ever got up and walked away.
It is said that this chimera could answer many age-old questions that have always perplexed the fae concerning the Menehune, but it would have to awaken first.
