Shui Fang, also known as Fragrant Sea, is one of the Zhong Lung species of Mokolé. She lives among the Hoklo boat people.
Biography
Shui Fang is an imposing woman, large-boned and muscular (though not obese). She wears the simple clothing of her adopted Hoklo community, and conceals her short, choppy dark hair beneath a broad straw hat. Her face usually appears tranquil. Her movements are slow and measured.
Shui Fang doesn’t remember her life before the change. She was a crocodile swimming in the Nile then almost suddenly she was transformed into a humanoid form. She was shocked by her physical transformation as well as the flood of memories that swooshed into her mind, connecting her to her ancient ancestors.
But it’s not the past that concerns Shui Fang, it’s the present. She makes her home among the Hoklo boat people and operates a kaido, transferring people from Kowloon or the mainland to other islands in the Hong Kong region. Though she has no hatred for humans, Shui Fang is becoming very concerned about their disregard for the area’s waterways. She dares not reveal her true nature to those she feels have defiled the sea and rivers with direct action but instead uses her contacts in the spirit world to wreak havoc on their lives.
She often travels to one of the uninhabited islands in the region in her natural form to rest and relax in the sun. She contemplates procreation but only if she can find a suitable mate, preferably a Bull Crocodile, but until then she will wait and watch and find out all she can about humankind and their place.
