The Shadow Curtain was a supernatural phenomenon enacted by the methuselah Baba Yaga in the early 1990s[1]. (Either 1991[2][3] or 1992[4][5][6], different books give different year) Being akin to the Soviet Union's Iron Curtain, be it geographically with a slightly smaller scope.
Overview[]
In essence, it blockaded the Umbra of Russia from supernatural influence, preventing arcane modes of communication, spying, or passage in and out of the region. This allowed Baba Yaga to dominate the local Kindred population, while culling those who would otherwise have been a threat thanks to outside reinforcements.
The Curtain also meant that outsiders could not spy on Russia via occult means, nor Russia on them. It was only after the death of Little Grandmother, at the turn of the millennium, that the curtain was finally lifted, for the ancient Nosferatu was finally destroyed by the Nictuku Vasilisa.
