Via Sanguinus, commonly called the Road of Blood and known as Tariq el-Haqim to Islamic Cainites, is one of the minor Roads that Kindred may choose to follow in Vampire: The Dark Ages and Dark Ages: Vampire. It is mainly followed by Assamites, and its followers are called Sentinels.
Those who follow Via Sanguinus are among the most deadly to their fellow Cainites, as the act of diablerie is almost a rite of purification among the Sentinels. Indeed, one of the main tenets of the road is for its followers to purge all that are unworthy of the blood of Caine and purify the bloodlines; one who shows a dark, dishonorable nature to a follower of Via Sanguinus may be in for a rude awakening.
However, diablerizing someone of honor simply to gain their power is just as horrifying to other Sentinels as it would be to other Cainites. It is because of the tolerance of diablerie on this Road that the concepts of honor, discipline, and self-control are equally important to the Sentinels. To act rashly is a mark of shame; to allow one's Beast to gain control over them is simply damning.
