Proteus Division is the hidden hand of the Aeon Society in the Unity Age.
Officially, Proteus is the Aeon Trinity's internal security agency. In reality, Proteus is an entire military and espionage organization that operates out of the public eye, taking on missions that Neptune and Triton cannot. Its director, William Renton, has only one goal in mind: maintain the Society's status in society, no matter what it takes. Neptune agents receive little pubic recognition for the work they do ... and that's just the way the like it.
Proteus runs the boot camps that all Aeon Trinity agents train at. Those who stay within Proteus go to Mars (see below) for additional, largely combat-focused training.
Organization[]
Mars[]
All Proteus agents pass through Mars at one point, as Proteus is the division most likely to deal with combat. Those who choose to stay in Proteus long term serve as guards, shock troop, commandos or other combat-oriented roles.
Apollo[]
Apollo consists of Proteus' spaceflight crews: pilots, gunners, technicians, and any other necessary role. Once Aeon took over the Leviathan jumpship project, interest in Apollo jumped considerably. Officially, Aeon doesn't control any military vessels, but Apollo crews can be very circumspect about their experience, and the Office of Asset Management can be very persuasive.
Titan[]
Titan houses Aeon's small stable of armored infantry personnel, able to deploy equipment like tanks or VARGs in the field. Again, much of this equipment is not owned by the Aeon Society, but borrowed or donated by outside agencies (who often don't know the details on how it's being used.)
Athena[]
The most secretive department, even within the Trinity itself, Athena handles espionage and counterintelligence. These agents are hand-picked by the Aeon Council, and their missions are high-stakes but rarely revealed. Its counterintelligence operations are shared by InSuv in Triton Division, an arrangement both offices find less than ideal.
