Pangloss Cosmetics is a subsidiary company of Siren Cosmetics, which is itself a subsidiary of Pentex.
Overview[]
The city of St. Claire, New York was underpopulated until the early 1960s when Pangloss Cosmetics decided to build its largest production facility there. The town became the subsidiary's headquarters and Pangloss built up an entire town from scratch. It became a boom town throughout the 60s and 70s. Pangloss was a good corporate citizen and funded much of the town's construction.
Secret History[]
In the 1950s, Madame Paris, the CEO and founder of Siren Cosmetics, also a servitor of Karnala, the Urge Wyrm of Desire, bought out her competitor, Pangloss Cosmetics, and decided to place the new plant in St. Claire to push out the local Wendigo Garou.
Over 60% of the population of the town is now employed by the company and the entire town has become a test kitchen of sorts for Pangloss experiments. All employees receive free cosmetics which open them up to the low-order Banes who swarm the area. All this gives the town a lot of negative psychic energy and strangers to the town suffer from vivid nightmares, usually involving the history of the area or their own suppressed desires. They may also catch glimpses of the Nappy Napper.
Today[]
Siren is the second largest cosmetics firm in the world and is posed to take the number one spot. Its combination of superior products and slick advertising have made it a household name. The St. Claire Pangloss plant is relatively unimportant in the scheme of things at Pentex, but the current CEO, Michael Norge, is trying to change that. He has created a new product called Kyrysma and is using St. Claire as a test market. If he succeeds he'll be richly rewarded, probably with a promotion to Siren's board of directors.
The plant has a low security profile. There are cameras, an above-average alarm system, and fifteen armed guards. These guards are Pentex-trained and competent, though not elites like Pentex First Teams. They are armed with high-power assault rifles with silver bullets and have been issued night-vision goggles.
There is an elevated air of sexuality in the plant and many employees wear masks, whether to keep from breathing in certain chemicals or to hide "mistakes" is unclear.
