Nizhniy Novgorod is a festival celebrated among the Kithain in Russia with an East meets West flair.
Overview[]
Named for an old Russian fair from the 19th century as well as the closest town, this is a World's Fair for changelings and has hundreds of booths, craft exhibits, and secret meetings. If you've ever hoped to catch a glimpse of the elusive Shinma of China outside of the Far East, this is the place to be. Nizhniy Novgorod lasts about a week, scheduled a year in advance for some time in the first two weeks of August, usually after and as close to Lughnasa as possible. If it's close enough the partiers show up still happy from that festival. Here you will find endless merchants, exotic food, and prime entertainment. The nearby town of Nizhny Novgorod, at the confluence of the Oka and Volga rivers, is a strong industrial area but also full of libraries and the arts. Many fae schedule trips down river after the festivities.
Behind the scenes[]
Since ‘Nizhniy Novgorod’ is just a name of the city, the correct name of the festival would be ‘Nizhniy Novgorod Fair’ of ‘Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka’. Real world Nizhny Novgorod Fair was functioning from 1817 (though it was continuation of older fairs nearby) to 1929. It was revived after the fall of Soviet Union.
