The Moroi bloodline is bound to the service of the Ordo Dracul; legend has it that Dracula himself recruited them. They are rare, acting as "secret weapons" of the Dragons; they are most frequently employed as assassins and enforcers, and Moroi are possessed of a lust for hunting and killing, giving rise to their nickname.

Their name comes from the Romanian legend of a vampiric spirit that rises from a stillborn infant, and one myth of the bloodline's creation involves two Kindred - one Nosferatu, one Gangrel - who found an infant which had been Embraced by its mother. They committed diablerie on the child, an act so blasphemous and cruel that God cursed them to become the bestial Moroi.

While this legend is generally regarded as apocryphal, it does at least offer an explanation of one of the most mysterious rumour about the bloodline: that it is descended from not one, but two clans. Certainly it seems members of either the Nosferatu or Gangrel can become Moroi, and members of the bloodline seem to share the weaknesses of both clans in addition to their bloodlust, making the claim hard to dismiss.
