Momentum is an urban Totem of War.

Overview[]

Momentum is a victory-spirit of many names, including Hot Hands or Winning Streak. She favors the brave and the crazy, giving and withdrawing success almost randomly. Bone Gnawers endlessly seek her favor, but rarely enjoy it for long. Shadow Lords are much more elaborate and careful in their rites for her, but have no more luck than the Children of Rat do. She has no true set form but most werewolves say they meet her as a lovely but capricious woman, usually dressed as if in a high-stakes casino.

The victory Momentum brings can be the center for many stories. The Storyteller may make her the patron of a mighty pack who has suddenly fallen on hard times, or tell the tale of a hapless Cliath raised to great Renown by her mysterious forces. She is a temporary totem at best and is usually chosen by packs that intend to stay together for a single mission and then go their separate ways.

Traits[]

Momentum grants a dice pool that can be applied by the pack to any dice roll they require (but must share the dice out as usual). The pool starts out at 0 but increases by one die for every victory the pack shares over a potent foe (like a group of well-armed fomori at least equal in number to the pack).

Ban[]

No matter what, Momentum will always abandon the pack at a random point, most often when it is least convenient. This causes no Renown loss (it's expected), but is inevitably bad timing for them. The Storyteller picks the time she leaves but it must be at some point before the close of the chronicle (or even a story) and the pack should go through at least one climactic struggle without her aid. The background points spent on Totem can be applied to the pack's next pack totem without penalty.
