The Midnight Mummers are the small group of Unseelie fae within House Liam.
Overview[]
The Midnight Mummers are as old as House Liam. In the beginning they were simply a group of friends who met to sympathize with each other over the difficulty of being Unseelie in a predominately Seelie House. They choose "Midnight" as a mockery of what others assumed about them and "Mummers" for the masks they were forced to wear. After the exile the focused the House dissent against the one many saw as a fool, King Liam, who brought disaster on his House. As time passed some of these fae departed for other Houses but at the time of the Resurgence, the Mummers have returned to their origins: a small group of friends gathered for support. The Accordance War found them just as unsure of what side to be on or what course to take as the rest of the House.
The contribute what they see as an essential function: the are the mockers of the House. The self-absorbed Grump who becomes too righteous in his politics may well wake up one morning to find his new bard singing parodies of his policies. The knight who ignores his manners may acquire a pack of chimera who ape his every move. The Mummers try to teach lessens and sometime they are even right.
Baron Malcolm once swore a mighty oath of vengeance against the Mummers after a particularly nasty group promulgated a false decree in his name; one that ordered his court to limp so they might not embarrass him. It is not clear whether he would have been as upset had the court not believed it to be a valid order and then not obeyed.
While the Mummers are mostly Sidhe, they have very little bias against other kith and their are, in fact, a number of pooka in their circle. There is no requirement to be Unseelie either. Their anarchic attitudes attract the like-minded, though the Seelie do find themselves slipping into their Unseelie legacies after a time.
Leadership is by consensus and those who hold it too long find themselves on the receiving end of the mischief. There is a tendency to Sidhe leadership and they have ties to the Shadow Court, though they do not belong.
