Mayur Patel is a blind British Asian man plagued by spirits that he sees as ifrits.
Overview[]
“ | I speak of the ghul — demons — jinn created of smokeless fire at the whim of Iblis, also called Shaitan… I know the ghul are real, for I have seen them with my own eyes. Indeed, a ghul’s face was the last thing I ever saw. | ” |
Blinded by a head trauma from a car accident, Patel was devastated by his inability to provide for his family any longer.[1] He became embittered and began lashing out (even more than he had before, for he was not a particularly kind husband and father even prior to his accident).[1]
Patel, having previously worked for thirty years at a pharmacy, had already been surrounded and affected by spirits of disease, and this only exacerbated the potency of the spirits of sadness and violence in his home.[1] It is only a matter of time before one of them decides to take him as a host.[2]
