Marie is a Rokea who targeted the Bergen Family for revenge after the events of the Turna'a Massacre.
In 1955, Zachary Bergen was a sailor in the US Navy. He was present at the Operation Wigwam nuclear tests, and many dying Rokea saw his face. His name was transmitted via Sending to other Rokea, who pursued him relentlessly in search of revenge.
When Zachary's grandson John traveled to the Bahamas, Marie lured him out onto a boat and disabled it, hoping to kill him. However, Zachary had told John something about Operation Wigwam, and when he explained the concept of sin to Marie, she decided to spare him. Instead, she trailed John back home, and then took Zachary back to Sea to face judgment.
