Among the Kuei-jin, mandarins are those who have achieved both spiritual wisdom and political power. Mandarins are further along their Dharma than jina, and serve as administrators, ambassadors, advisors and generals in their respective courts. They also have the important duty of choosing the ancestor who will rule the court. Many kuei-jin find mandarins opaque, insular, and confusing, but would never say so where one might hear them.
