Malakai is a possible Antediluvian vampire presumably of the 3rd generation who is said to be the twin sister of Malkav. Most references to her suggest that she is far more mad and dangerous than her brother.[1]
Biography[]
Little is currently known about Malakai. Sources indicate that she never sired a childe and so has no clan. There is a cult tracked by the Black Hand called the Adoptive Childer of Malakai who make several claims about her. They hope that she can cure madness or offer new insights into reality. The Black Hand know of her as well. Black Hand scriptures referencing Lilith's orphans say Malakai is imprisoned deep within the Shadowlands because she is so mad and powerful that she warps reality around her. The one seraph to have heard the voice of Malakai says she reveals truths of the past, present, and future of the Black Hand; telling of the rebirth of the goddess within the Tal'Mahe'Ra.
Clues to her Nature[]
Beckett in Jerusalem[]
When Beckett journeyed to Jerusalem he found himself wrapped up in strange events there concerning the Malkavian clan, who were flocking to the area and killing themselves. Deep within a pit under a ruin in Ketef Hinnom he lost himself to the madness afflicting the Malkavians. While affected he said and wrote the following quotes, some of which mention Malakai:
- "Malkav wants his sister back."
- "Malkav wants his Malakai."
- "Malkav. Malakai. Arikel. Lilith. Children and mother. Mekhet is free and Malakai follows."
- "Malkav. Malkavians. They are performing a ritual of some kind. Elders. I could see them. The Shaal Fragment says Malkav's blood shall pour forth. They drink from him. Malakai seeks peace. They move her."
- "I can see the Gehenna cycle. Snatches of it from the perspective of the Malkavians feeding."
- "Malkav is inside all his childer now. The voices dissipate. The ritual concludes. The voices subside."[2]
The Shaal Fragment[]
Malakai is mentioned in the Shaal Fragment as an antediluvian who seeks "peace" during the first Gehenna.[3] However, since Arikel is said to seek unity, the peace Malakai seeks may not be diplomatic in nature. Rather, she could have sought peace by journeying to the Shadowlands or entering Torpor.
Possible Locations[]
The French Dark Ages supplement France by Night suggests that Malakai might be the powerful being that sleeps under Brittany.[4]
