The School of the Great Ladder believed that the duty of the Awakened was to guide their followers through their lives, into their next incarnations, and eventually into freedom from pain. Specifically, Sleepers were to uphold the laws of civilization, while sorcerers were to strive toward higher truths.
The metaphysics touted by this darshana held the various realms, such as the Shadow, the Lower Depths, the Supernal Realm, and so on were the destination of various reincarnations.
