Tasanee, Blood Talon Cahalith member of the Lodge of Songkran
The Lodge of Songkran is a Southeast Asian lodge devoted to purification.
Overview[]
The Golden Triangle of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos has long been one of the world's largest producers of illicit drugs, from heroin to meth. The drug trade poisoned the land, the people, and the Shadow, attracting the Leech Hosts alongside spirits of violence, addiction and despair. The Uratha of the region also despaired, and many gave up on maintaining their Harmony, becoming ravening Zi'ir who fed on anything they could catch.
Then a Thai werewolf had a vision, and rallied his pack around it. They took their name from the Thai version of the Water Festival, and found a totem spirit in Boon-naahm, Unpolluted Water. The newly-formed Songkran brought the holiday's themes of renewal and purification to the Golden Triangle: helping humans escape crime and addiction, exterminating the Leech Hosts, and bringing their fellow werewolves back to Harmony. They are committed to purifying their land, and they're willing to do it by any means necessary.
Most members of the Lodge are, in fact, the same wretches the Lodge found and purified. The ordeal of clawing one's way back into balance after having surrendered it is all the initiation they need. Sometimes these future members come willingly, aware that they have lost their way and looking for the support they need to find it again. Others must be hunted down and made to see reason again, sometimes violently. Once they have recovered and proven their purity, they may become full members of the lodge; sometimes they aren't given a choice.
Game Mechanics[]
Prerequisites[]
Empathy •••, Purity •••; Harmony 6 or above
Benefits[]
All members — whether they are the targets of rehabilitation or the actual rehabilitators — gain a +2 dice to all Composure rolls used to resist Kuruth. All members also have an easier time purchasing Harmony with experience points.
All “full” members know the Elemental Gift Call Water (•), and may share Willpower points with one another.
Rites[]
Waters of Songkran (•••): During the Water Festival, people splash each other with water as a symbol of purification for the new year. This rite allows the Lodge of Songkran to add supernatural weight to that act. Water purified by this rite is not only free of any pollutants or contamination; it burns the flesh of Hosts, the Ridden, and any Uratha with Harmony below 3. In addition, any Uratha splashed with this water are forced to return to Hishu form and cannot enter Death Rage for any reason.
Fetishes[]
Blessed String (•): By binding a water elemental into a string and tying it onto someone's wrist, the creator of this fetish can monitor that person's dominant emotional state regardless of the distance between them.
