Edward Shattersong K'ruuk, Blood Talon Cahalith member of the Lodge of Scars

The Lodge of Scars is an elite lodge for Uratha elders. Its patron is the immensely powerful spirit Scarred Bear.

Overview[]

Few Uratha live to old age, and those that do occupy an awkward place among the People: the animal instinct that age is weakness (and the memory of Father Wolf) wars with the knowledge that elders are important sources of lore, Gifts, Rites, and collective memory. The Lodge of Scars recognizes those elders who remain capable of great accomplishments, and those who know the history of the lodge's totem know that Lodge members are owed tremendous respect.

According to legend, Wrathful Bear was a spirit that defeated the Firstborn again and again, no matter how many times the spirit-wolves hunted it down. Over time, however, their repeated attacks took a toll, and Wrathful Bear became Scarred Bear. Even when his fur was white with age and his body rent by scars, however, his predator's might was enough that the Firstborn fled before him -- the last time in history they did so. Later, the pack patrons of the Forsaken invited Scarred Bear to mentor their eldest children and become the totem of the Lodge of Scars.

Joining the Lodge of Scars requires the prospective member to achieve some great personal victory, a quest known as the Last Mile given how many of those who attempt it die in the process. There is no official standard for what qualifies as an appropriate task for the Last Mile, but it must be something worth of significant Renown. Those who join the lodge have the right to use the honorific k'ruuk as part of their deed-name.

The Lodge of Scars is another worldwide lodge that has a presence in Britain. The respect for veterans of the world wars in the United Kingdom is nothing short of staggering, with memorial days, parades and frequent documentaries airing on TV all-year around. The Lodge of Scars finds a great deal of similar respect in some hunting rounds, for the lodge honors ageing werewolves and offers them a unique place in Forsaken culture as advisers and mercenary mentors, as well as allies in battle for those who still feel the fury of supernatural Rage in their blood.

Game Mechanics[]

Prerequisites[]

There is no age limit for when one becomes eligible to join the Lodge of Scars, but must know at least three five-dot Gifts and have three Renowns at four dots or higher.

Benefits[]

Members purchase Dominance, Inspiration and Rage Gifts as if they were tribal Gifts, and the skills Persuasion, Intimidation and Politics (Uratha) are bought at new dots x2 rather than new dots x3. Also, Scar Fetishes are extremely common among this lodge, and cost one dot less than standard no matter their effects. Upon joining, members also receive three dots in Renown to be distributed according to the deeds performed on the Last Mile.

Rites[]

Claws of Ashes (••••): the ritualist can enhance the damage caused by their claws by meditating on the inevitability of their own death.
