Library (H5)

Library is an Asset Edge utilized by Hunters.

Overview

Whether in the form of a musty library filled with centuries-old texts or a well-encrypted database encompassing the latest research on paranormal entities, the Hunter has access to a wealth of information on a wide variety of topics and creatures. Given time, the Hunter can use this to glean important clues on the behaviors, strengths, and weaknesses of their quarry.

Libraries are most often used by Faithful and Inquisitive Hunters.

Base ability

A Hunter spending roughly a day researching their prey can make an Edge test. A win provides a clue into the nature or behavior of the type of creature, or even the specific prey being hunted. A greater margin equals more information, more accurate information, etc.

Perks

• Binge: The Edge's required research time is cut in half with no short-term impact on the Hunter's physical condition or research quality.
• Friendly Librarian: An automatic success is gained on the Edge test, provided at least two days pass between the beginning of the research period and the Edge test, rather than one.
• Group Study: Gain bonus dice to the Edge test pool for every other cell member assisting the roll, even if they don't also possess the Library Edge.
• How to Halt Them: In addition to the clue gained, the information yields a bonus to any attempt to ward or otherwise protect an area or person, or hide them, from the prey.
• How to Harm Them: In addition to the clue gained, the information yields a bonus to any attempt to harm the prey by exploiting a supernatural susceptibility.
• Permanent Fixture: Use the library (if a physical location) as a safe house without consequence once per story.
• Where They Hide: In addition to the clue gained, the information yields a bonus equal to any attempt to locate the lair of the prey.
• Who They Are: In addition to the clue gained, the information yields a bonus to any attempt to identify the prey (if they have the ability to pass for mundane, such as a human or animal).
