Kickstarter is an American website set up as a hub for crowd-funding projects.

Overview[]

Users post their projects for a set period of time, and other users can pledge money to the project which is collected if the project's funding goal is reached. If more money is raised, projects may add additional 'Stretch Goals' which add additional content if a higher funding goal is reached.

Onyx Path Publishing has used Kickstarter in the past as a means to fund traditionally printed versions of their books, which would otherwise be only available in PDF and Print-on-Demand formats, for their backers. Once the Kickstarter is over, the traditionally printed version becomes unavailable. 

Onyx Path Kickstarters[]

V20 Companion Deluxe Edition[]

The V20 Companion is a supplement for the Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition.

The funding goal was $50,000, but in the end $96,326 were pledged - just missing out on the project's sole Stretch Goal.

Stretch Goals[]

The Stretch Goal for the V20 Companion was not reached.

  • At $100,000 all PDF copies of the V20 companion distributed to backers will be annotated with sound clips, video, additional text and sketches that detail the making of the book. 

Children of the Revolution Deluxe Edition[]

Children of the Revolution is a second supplement for Vampire: The Masquerade - 20th Anniversary Edition. 

As with the V20 Companion, the funding goal was $50,000, but Children of the Revolution only raised $55,394.

Improvements to the process were also made over the V20 Companion Kickstarter, including a flat shipping fees ($20 in addition to the pledge amount) for Non-US/Canada orders to see if it would work better than having two separate Reward Tiers.

Stretch Goals[]

  • At $55,000, Matt McElroy of FlamesRising.com will write an update for the original Red List (the basis for The Kindred Most Wanted) which will bring it to V20 compatibility.

The following Stretch Goals were included, but not reached.

  • At $70,000, the Red List update will include full-colour portraits of each of the Anathema, making it a roughly 40-page book.
  • At $100,000, all PDF copies of Children of the Revolution will be upgraded with sound clips, videos, additional text and sketches detailing the making of the book.

Stretch Goals[]

  • At $95,000, the Developers will create a 'Making of the Art of W20' PDF that includes sketches, phone conversations and emails detailing the creation of the art. This will be sent to every backer, and will be roughly 48 pages.
  • At $110,000, Bill Bridges will write a Werewolf: The Apocalypse novel that will be delivered to all backers in PDF form. 
  • At $130,000, a copy of the Skinner PDF will be sent to every backer who pledged $20 or more. The Skinner is a new adventure written by Ethan Skemp.
  • At $150,000, Mike Lee will write a Werewolf: The Apocalypse novel that will be delivered to all backers in PDF form.
  • At $170,000, the W20 Storyteller's Screen Reward Tiers are unlocked. 
  • At $185,000, one or two extra bookmarks will be added to the W20 book. 
  • At $200,000, a Werewolf: The Apocalypse Classic Fiction Anthology will be created. The milestone also unlocks Reward Tiers that allow a limited number of backers to have their characters' names appear in the stroies.
  • At $220,000, every backer who pledged $20 or more will receive a W20 Onyx Path Dice Rolling App compatible with Apple products.
  • At $250,000, every backer who pledged for a physical copy of W20 or the Heavy Metal Edition will receive a copy of the Werewolf Wild West Expansion Pack PDF, developed by Ethan Skemp. 
  • At $280,000, every backer who pledged $20 or more will receive a PDF copy of the original Werewolf: The Wild West sourcebook. 
  • At $300,000, every backer who pledged $20 or more will receive PDF copies of the Werewolf Translation Guide and the White Howlers Tribebook. 
  • At $315,000 an 8-page White Howlers comic book will be created and added to the White Howlers Tribebook PDF.
