Kanaka is a term used by the Kopa Loei, Menehune, and other Hawaiian natives.

Kopa Loei[]

Among the Kopa Loei, a kanaka is a native Polynesian. Formally, kanaka maoli. Used by natives as a term of identification. Should not be used by nonnatives, as it is assumed to be derogatory coming from ha'oles. Also moke.
Menehune[]
Among the menehune, Kanaka is used to refer to the Seeming analogous to Brave among the nunnehi and Wilder among the Kithain.
