Kali, real name California Lowenthal, is an independent Ravnos neonate of New York City and the childe of the infamous Reynard Cassel.

Born California Lowenthal, she was a hippie's daughter.
She first caught Reynard Cassel's eye at a music festival. She was raking in some serious cash, pulling off sleight of hand, hustling the clueless out of their money. Rich kids were everywhere, dripping with cash and confidence, making her job easy and making more than enough money in just three days. Reynard came along and decided to take her down a notch, exposing all her tricks. After, he promised her some bright, shiny future with his gang. Cruising along through the country suited her fine. Reynard spotted her again in the crowd and decided to embrace her right there. Within Reynard's gang, she procured items for her sire through her dark web channels.
Drifting through life from one rave to another and scamming for a living, Kali was a Ravnos through and through long before catching the eye of Reynard Cassel. Seeing her as a potential asset, he promptly Embraced in 2022. Her unique insight into human nature and access to secure dark web trading channels have been a great boon to her coterie. As the logistics expert, she ensures her merchandise--no matter how shady--ends up in the right hands. In 2024, with her sire's mysterious disappearance, Kali learns how to swim in uncharted waters instead of simply relying on her gifts and Lady Luck's smile. She meets Gianni D'Angelo inquiring about her sire's whereabouts.
Later captured by the Scourge Valerie Duval, she is brought before the Primogen and Prince Hellene Panhard of New York City and accused of violating the Camarilla's rules and breaching the Masquerade. Kali defends herself by putting the blame on her sire Reynard, convincing the Council that she can deliver him to face their judgment. The Primogen assign the disliked Caitiff Pádraic Conroy as her caretaker and give her four days.
After contacting the Anarch Mato Blomquist, they are directed to meet with the Thin-blood Skylar at a local Anarch spot, known as the Empire of the Sun. From there, Kali reunites with her blood sister Jessica Wainright who reveals their sire's treachery. Eventually she meets another of Reynard's former associates, the dangerous Ministry High Priest Elie Sansaricq who is unable to provide new intel about Reynard.
Desperate for more to clear her name, she and Pádraic infiltrate the Circulatory System, with the assistance of the Nosferatu Kaiser or the Malkavian Hope. They find new evidence in their database regarding Reynard and his association with a new power in the city--the Tzimisce Autarkis Vritra.
She brings her findings to the Council but instead finds the Camarilla under attack by the Hunter Offensive in the Elysium. After surviving the battle, she is imprisoned by the court and learns that she was a mere pawn to draw Reynard out. She is released soon after and is approached by her sire Reynard who invites her to join him in a heist to steal a blood vial of the Ravnos Antediluvian, held by the Second Inquisition. Along with Vritra's Lasombra thugs, they are able to retrieve the blood vial but Kali is betrayed by her sire and the Lasombra but ends up getting the vial for herself.
She leaves New York City holding the powerful blood vial after.
