James Rafferty is an influential Ventrue in New York.
Biography[]
It is unknown when Rafferty was Embraced into Clan Ventrue, but he is by all accounts an well-established and influential member of the Court of Prince Hellene Panhard. He is the silent owner of several prime pieces of real estate throughout the city, including the Sterling Hotel in Manhattan and the Crescent - a recently constructed suite of luxury condominiums in the South Bronx. An archetypically ambitious Bluebood, Rafferty secretly seeks to usurp his clanmate Addison Payne and take his seat on New York's Primogen Council.
Rafferty is a member of an long-established coterie consisting of himself, the Nosferatu Glassjaw, the Lasombra Renato Cristoval, and the Toreador Amadeus. The lattermost recently vanished in 2022 - disposed of by Rafferty after the two came to blows over some of the Ventrue's new "business associates". Apparently, not only was Rafferty willing to collaborate with the Anarchs in order to achieve his ambitions, but a surviving faction of the Sabbat as well. Before that point, the coterie conspired to organize their respective childer into a coterie all their own, with Rafferty serving as their patron.
Rafferty himself has two childer: the art dealer and socialite Khalida, whom he dotes on, and Margot "Fuego" Walker - whom he claims he Embraced in an "act of passion".
Appearance[]
When first introduced, Rafferty is described as a tall, athletic-looking, silver-haired gentleman resplendent in a grey turtleneck, slacks, and highly-polished loafers.

- Mechanically speaking, Rafferty serves as the Mawla of the Camarilla coterie starring in the Vampire: The Masquerade: New York By Night live-play chronicle's second season. The coterie is described as a "Maréchal" coterie, an archetype presented on pg. 198 of the Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition Corebook. A Maréchal coterie is described as serving at the direct behest of an influential Kindred (even a Prince or Baron), usually made up of the direct childer or scions of various Elders.
