Hungry ghost

Hungry ghosts, also referred to as egui, are ghosts who, previously accustomed by Chinese custom to continued support by their descendants, have lost that support. They may also be born of those who have been murdered without their killers facing justice. During periods of turmoil, they make up one of the most common threats dealt with by Wuchang Gui.

Though still humanoid, egui tend to be physically warped in some way, usually emblematic of their hunger; distended stomachs, altered mouths, and the like are common themes. As they grow older and more powerful, however, these ghosts take on less and less human characteristics.
