War in Heaven is a fiction novel for Mage: The Ascension and the final part of the Horizon War Trilogy.
Summary[]
- In WAR IN HEAVEN, a desperate battle rages in the Horizon Realms, the mystic dimensions that surround Earth. The mages of both the Nine Traditions and the Technocracy are under attack by a mysterious willworker who calls himself Heylel Teomim, the Ascension Warrior. Already, two Horizon Realms have been obliterated, and now others are under attack. But Helyel's most potent threat is a seductive offer that kindles the fires of revolution in younger mages. Only a small band of unlikely allies stands against the Ascension Warrior. If they fail, mankind is doomed. For though Teomim may promise a bright new dawn, his triumph means an eternity of endless night!
- WAR IN HEAVEN is the final novel of the Horizon War trilogy, based on the best-selling games, Mage: The Ascension and Vampire: The Masquerade. Author Robert Weinberg is also the author of the popular Masquerade of the Red Death Trilogy.

Background Information[]
The final page of this book includes a disclaimer:
A Note to Mage Fans:
In response to your letters and inquiries concerning this series, we’d like to set the record straight. Some of the events described in The Road to Hell and The Ascension Warrior did, in “fact,” take place in the World of Darkness continuity. For instance, Doissetep is destroyed. Every mage within the Cal Ladiem Realm perished. Sao Cristavao no longer sits at the Table Cenacle (or anywhere else).
This book, however, need not be taken as canon. The Mage and Horizon War timelines split in the instant Doissetep ceased to be - though how far apart the histories diverge is up to you. Let the pattern-clone wreak what havoc you like in your own chronicle - or none. Let the Adepts and apprentices revolt against their elders - or not. Let Concordia bum if you want to. We’ll settle on where the pieces fell officially and write it up in a year or so. In the meantime, have fun playing with the shards. - pg. 375
From A Few Final Words from the Author:
- Any work the length of The Horizon War requires the help of many people. I'd like to thank a few who deserve special mention.
- To Phil Brucato for all of his help, advice, and patience as I played around in his world.
- To Lori Perkins, my agent, who keeps me employed.
- To my many fans throughout the world who sent me letters and e-mail about my books. Thanks to everyone for reading. Your enthusiasm keeps me writing. Special thanks to Greg and Lea Silhol for their continued encouragement and friendship.
- For those people on the Internet, please stop by my web page, www.sff.net/people/r.weinberg and say hello.
- These three novels were written during some difficult days, and I thank all of my family and friends for helping me manage through disappointments and disasters.
- And thanks to everyone at White Wolf for publishing this book, the seventh of my novels set in the World of Darkness.
- As to the truth about the pattern-clone, the shapeshifters, and Scarlett Dancer, I'll leave that for you to decide. I know the answers, but I'll never tell.
- At present, I have no plans to write any more novels set in the World of Darkness. But Madeleine Giovanni's story has yet to be concluded. So who knows what the future might bring? As Shadow of the Dawn states: the only truth is that there are no absolute truths.

Memorable Quotes[]
"Us?" said Seventeen. "Heylel Teomim? Or Lord Steel pretending to be the Abomination?" - pg. 156
"And the angel of the Lord smote them with her terrible swift sword." ...
"Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord," "I shall repay." - pg. 207-209 (Sarah curses Enzo.)
"I ask again," said Kallikos, the Time Storm swirling around him, waves of Temporal energy cascading off his body, "what was the name of the hermit?"
"Hermit!" screamed the golden man. " What hermit?"
Kallikos nodded. To Seventeen, the archmage appeared to smile, finding peace in that response.
"His name," said Kallikos, "was Tormod of Kirkenes." - pg. 366
