Herschel Salomon was a Nosferatu rabbi with the desire to protect the Jewish people even in undeath.

Biography[]

Herschel Salomon originated from the Jewish community of Aix-la-Chapelle. Raised to assume responsibility, Herschel Salomon worked to protect the Jewish community from an early age. The best way, he assumed, was to become the rabbi of the community. Working hard to assume this post, Herschel often held contact with traveling Jews that came to the city, offering them hospitality. At one time, a group of Jewish scholars from Amsterdam visited the city, among them a scholar named Antonius Heerenven. Heerenven and Salomon talked long about their desires and goals in life and after the group left, Heerenven reappeared alone in Aix-la-Chapelle only a few years later. Revealing himself to Salomon, he offered to give him undeath so that he could continue his goal of protecting for all eternity. After a short time of reflection, Herschel Salomon accepted.

The pair remained in contact, with Heerenven revealing Salomon much about Clan lore, including the threat of the Nictuku. Fearing the night when these creatures would hunt his Clan, Salomon tentatively held contact to the Cainite community, but spent more time caretaking the Jewish population of Aix-la-Chapelle and beyond, often traveling to other communities and warrens.

After the disasters of the Thirty Years War and the Napoleonic Wars, Salomon, having returned from an extensive journey to Prague, decided to leave the Old World behind. Together with his childer, he left Europe in 1842 to settle in Canada. He returned briefly in 1935, arranging the flight of multiple Jewish families and vampires before returning again to Canada.
