Introduction: The Changing Phantoms
Chapter One: Lands of the Emerald Mother
Chapter Two: The Tapestry
Chapter Three: Lords of the Beast Courts
This chapter gives details on the Hengeyokai that roam the Middle Kingdom, be they of the Beast Courts, or servants of their own masters and litanies.
- The Hakken - A tribe of werewolves that stem from Grandfather Thunder, which obviously notes their close kinship to the Western Tribe the Shadow Lords. Much of Hakken philosophy and actions derive from the Code of Bushido, the Samurai code of honor and loyalty that the samurai of the Imperial Era followed which obviously makes them far more noblesque and less deceitful than their Shadow Lord cousins. Most Hakken hold powerful sway over the Courts in Japan.
- The Khan - The were-tigers of the Bastet who most to all of their species gives loyalty to the Beast Courts.
- The Kumo - The Goblin Spiders do not give fealty to the Mother, as their entire get swear loyalty to the Death Centipede(Wyrm). Long standing enemies of the Beast Courts they are usually fought in High War, the Kumo showing respect and honor at least publicly. Their actions behind closed doors would make any being cringe.
- The Nezumi - Kin to the Ratkin of the West, the Nezumi share many aspects to their Western kin though their etiquette still matches the decorum of Eastern standards.
- The Nagah - The Wereserpents are silent and unassuming, for even they have trouble surviving in the Beast Courts. Tolerated yet accepted the Nagah move with subtley amongst their Hengeyokai bretheren, many of them never revealing who or what they are as they pass. Many Nagah take the roles of the Internal Police of the Beast Courts, but most are solitary who stay out of Beast Court politik.
- The Tengu - The Wereravens are the spies and messengers of the East. Sharing similar qualities to their western kin, the Corax the Tengu as as flighty in mind as their Western cousins.
- The Zhong Lung - The Weredragons are the ancient ones of the Beast Courts, one of the few remaining tribes of the Mokole. Many take the role of Elders and Historians within the Courts, as many Zhong Lung who are alive are old and hibernate often, recalling the memories of the past during most of their remaining years.
