Harzomatuili is (was) the leader of the Mexico City Sept of Black Spiral Dancers and their Hell-Pit Hive Caern which in modern times would eventually evolve into The Underbelly of the Wyrm[1][2].

He first appeared in print as the Leader of the Sepulchre in the Mage: the Ascension book The Chaos Factor, then later in Werewolf: The Wild West supplement Tales from the Trails: Mexico and finally in the card game Vampire: The Eternal Struggle. A Garou of prodigious age and immense power, Harzomatuili has maintained his station as leader of all of Mexico's Black Spiral Dancers for centuries, since the time of Hernan Cortes' conquest of Mexico in 1519 CE. He has done this not simply through the grace of the Wyrm and his own guile and ambition, but by consuming kindred vitae to prolong his life; specifically, by drinking blood provided to him by the late Sabbat Regent Melinda Galbraith[3], though he remains free of any Blood Bond, and any benefits of being a ghoul other than prolonged life remain absent from his in game stats. What is also unclear is whether or not Harzomatuili is a convert to the way of the Wyrm from another tribe, or if he is Black Spiral Dancer descended from the long fallen White Howlers of old.

Harzomatuili further claims to be "one of the Blessed of the Wyrm, a chosen warrior in the battle against the forces of the Wyld"[4] and one of the first among the Wyrmbringers (Wyrmcomers). His level of accomplishment and renown very likely could prove this boast true: he was in large part the architect of the growth and establishment of all Black Spiral Dancers in Mexico, and-- it could be argued-- was a key factor in their success as a tribe, as well as on the whole in entering the New World of the Pure Lands, defeating the Pure Ones and laying the groundwork for the corruption of it all by the Wyrm. Without the burden of needing to follow the prohibitions of Gaia, Harzomatuili has been a prodigious reproducer, fathering innumerable kinfolk and pure breeds alike, such as his Metis son Th'lan Morg.[5] It helps that he's had over 500 years to perfect his depravity.

Harzomatuili

  • Background: Harzomatuili lived in Spain during his youth and traveled to Mexico not long after Cortes first made his presence known to the Aztecs. Though his Rage was great, some thing, some unknown force, bid him to be patient and take his time in spreading the influence of his tribe. Not long after he watched the fall of Tenochtitlan, he met with the vampire Melinda Galbraith. Though they could hardly be called friends, they established a working relationship that was mutually beneficial. He aided her in keeping her haven safe and in handling the matters she found "distasteful but necessary", and she in turn gave him the blood from her body. He has not aged in over 300 years.
  • From her he also learned other things, skills which would never have been his if he had not carefully watched her at all times. He learned the subtlety of planning and the patience of an immortal. He learned to think so far ahead of his own time as to seem impossible. That patience has paid off. His plans for Mexico have begun to bear fruit. From one single, quiet Hive of Black Spiral Dancers he has planted a dozen Hives throughout Mexico, most of which are unknown even now to the Gaian shapechangers. He has garnered the favor of the Storm Eater, and has learned rites that few have ever mastered. In celebration of all the Wyrm has given him, he recently crafted a great silver sigil of the Wyrm and rested his face upon the metal until he could feel the pain sear into the bones of his skull. Though his face has been hideously scarred by the action, he now knows that he must be chosen of the Wyrm - for even without the blood of the vampire he has conspired with over the centuries, he does not age.
  • Image: The Leader of the Hell-Pit Hive is not a pleasant sight. In Crinos form he towers almost a full 12 feet in height, with a build that would put most grizzly bears to shame. His fur is mostly black with smatterings of gray throughout, and his features more strongly resemble those of a bat than a wolf. His face is also hideously scarred, with the Garou glyph for the Wyrm covering him from his upper lip to his brow. He wears a jaguar-skull fetish around his neck and carries a very large weathered Baneklaive.

  • Fetishes: Bane Lantern, Bane Sword, Umbraphone, Wyrm-Gut Bonds, Thunderwyrm Egg (Level 4, Gnosis 8; the Thunderwyrm Egg is in actuality a small thunderwyrm preserved in amber. When activated, it calls any thunderwyrms within a 50 mile radius to the Black Spiral Dancer's aid. If there are no thunderwyrms in the area, the Thunderwyrm Egg will hatch and the Wyrm inside will double in size, coming to the aid of the Dancer. The fetish is only usable once if it hatches, although the thunderwyrm inside will be a willing slave for as long as it lives. Mind you, the master of the thunderwyrm will have to make sure it is fed, or things could get messy.)
  • Background: "I was born in Spain, during the time of Moctezuma, the last great ruler of the Aztecs. My love of the Wyrm has kept me young for 500 years. I was the first of my tribe to find the Underbelly and to dedicate the Underbelly to the Hydra. As proof of my love for the Wyrm, I, Harzomatuili, continue the the tradition of blood sacrifices that the Aztecs started. Since the Hive was built, I have been directly responsible for turning over 40 Garou to the ways of the Wyrm.
  • Pentex and I have long come to an understanding; my minions will help them if they help me. As the leader of the Underbelly of the Wyrm Hive, I have kept the Dancers well funded and provided with Dangerous Toys to pass among the population of the city - a favorite pastime during religious holidays. In exchange for the services of my Black Pack, a specialist team of commando Ahroun, Pentex ensures that my tribe never wants for anything."
  • Image: Harzomatuili is truly blessed by the Wyrm. He stands almost 12 feet tall in Crinos form, and is covered by patches of black lichen that have been growing within his body since the 17th time he danced the Black Spiral. To prove his dedication to the Wyrm, Harzomatuili had the glyph of the Wyrm burned into his face; his eyes alone were saved from the hideous scarring.
  • Roleplaying Notes: Your Rage is an unholy thing to see, and you lead your Hive by force of will and the ability to knock the sin out of your enemies. No one is permitted to question your authority and live. You love the effect your hideousness has on most people.
