The Great Lakes Pack are a pack of Garou who operate in-and-around the Twin Cities, sworn defenders of the Powderhorn Caern. They are currently led by Sidone Omenuko.
Overview[]
It is unknown exactly when the Great Lakes Pack was formed, though the Silver Fang Tyrell Stinar had by all accounts served as pack Alpha for some time. It was also noted to be an unusually large pack, with members from several different Tribes, often resulting in its constituent werewolves butting heads with each other.
In 2021, the Tremere Justicar Ian Carfax discovered the mystical properties of the lands of the Powderhorn Caern and devised plans to bully the Garou into teach him how to comune with spirits. The vampire wizard hoped to exploit it's unique spiritual properties in order to stave off the call of the Beckoning.
To this effect, Carfax relayed secret orders to Calder Wendt instructing him how to inscribe sorcerous wards within a local building off the beaten track, known as "The Volga". Wendt was initially under the impression that the Justicar wished for him to transform the Volga into a new Elysium when, in reality, the Volga was in fact an ancient at the center of the pack's most sacred lands, putting them in collision course with the local vampires.
Becoming aware of the recent "Lupine unrest", the newly appointed Prince Cecily Bain sent Mitch Pendergrass and King Rat to investigate the matter. Mitch did found the pack and tried his best to be friendly and reason with the Silver Fang and pack alpha, Tyrell Stinar, but was swiftly butchered by Steph while King Rat was allowed to flee and deliver the pack ultimatum to the leeches.
After this declaration of war, the Shadow Lord Khalil Rivers challenged the reckless leadership of Tyrell the Stainless, but the Philodox was quickly put in his place by the Alpha Ahroun. Ian Carfax chose this moment to show himself to the pack, proposing to remove the wards that prevented the Garou from accessing the area, in exchange for some magical lessons about the spiritual world. Initially, some among the pack (like Khalil), were willing to take the deal, finding the whole idea amusing. Tyrell, on the other hand, would have none of it and the wolves forced the vampire to leave.
As animosity raged on, the pack tried to use the fact that Ian Carfax was aware of the rivalry between Khalil and Tyrell to stage a fake betrayal, hoping to lure Justicar Carfax into a false sense of security. Khalil negotiated the removal of the thaumaturgical protections around the Volga, and the pack launched an immediate surprise attack against the vampire wizard. However, Carfax had more hustle than a caffeinated squirrel in a nut race, and quickly raised his magical protections once again, taking the pack to their knees with the exception of the alpha himself.
Tyrell 'the Stainless' Stinar let his rage overtake him and decided he would sacrifice himself in a blaze of glory against the filthy leech. He commanded his pack to leave the area of the wards, and threw himself in a last battle against the Tremere Justicar. At the end of the scuffle, they were both grievosly wounded as the whole structure of the Volga burned around them. Much to Tyrell's chagrin, his ultimate sacrifice was thwarted by Prince Cecily Bain, who used a protection charm to tear down the wards allowing the pack to retrieve Tyrell from the fire, while the Prince left Carfax to die as retribution for orchestrating the whole ordeal.
Although Vicious had lost his life as a result of the ill-fated attack led by Tyrell, the surviving pack alpha was still prattling about how the pack was full of cowards who had denied him his ultimate sacrifice. Consumed by bloodlust, Tyrell was challenged by Sidone who cut off his head using a Silver Klaive. Under new leadership, the Great Lakes Pack negotiated an uneasy truce with Prince Bain. The agreement was that the Kindred would cede any claims to the Powderhorn Caern (as its physical location lay in downtown Minneapolis), and in return the Garou would cease any hostilities so long as the Caern's grounds lay unviolated.
Soon after these events, Khalil approached Sidone informing her that himself, Valerie, Risa and Steph would leave the pack and go on their own separate way.
