Giuliana Scoruzzo de Cima, is a elder Ventrue vampire, a regular patron of the Purgatory Bar and a close friend to Jean-Marie.[1]
Biography[]
Giuliana was born into a prominent family in a small but comfortable Italian town, and showed great promise as a young girl. Some of her more ambitious cousins began to talk of marrying her to a prince and improving the family's position, and after much politicking, she was sent, at the age of sixteen, to the court at Genoa. She turned many heads at the court and came under the protection of one courtier (a trusted advisor to many) who claimed to be a distant relative but was in fact a member of the Clan Ventrue. After several years together, they went through a form of marriage which removed her from the breathing world forever.
Her "husband" died at the hands of the Inquisition a few decades afterwards, but Giuliana was able to escape. Prompted by her intellectual curiosity, she travelled widely and acquired a breadth of education which would have been impossible if her family had married her to a mortal prince as they had planned.
Giuliana is every inch the Renaissance lady of breeding and education. She had a quiet, genteel nature and a soft voice, but can converse or debate on a wide range of topics with surprising skill. She also has an instinctive grasp of politics, both Kindred and mortal, and enjoys every facet of art. Giuliana is a talented painter and an accomplished sculptress. She favors soft, flowing garments in bright but tasteful colors, and wears her hair long and flowing - a distinct contrast from the styles adopted by mortal patrons of the club. Most assume that she belongs somewhere in the late sixties.
Giuliana came to the city around a century ago, made herself known to the Prince and obtained permission to stay. Now, she is well-established in the city's hierarchy with considerable influence. She retains a Ghoul manservant and a couple of maids whom she has Dominated sufficiently to make them a reliable Herd. By the standards of the Kindred, she is a paragon of good taste and self-reliance. Though she is accepted by the Elders, there is another side to her as well.
Jean-Marie and Giuliana were close friends from the moment they met. A mutual interest in art gave way to a deep mutual respect. Jean-Marie had the profoundest admiration for Giuliana's wisdom and experience, while Giuliana senses Jean Marie's pain and longs to soothe it. She admires his intentions in setting up Purgatory as a kind of Haven for the dispossessed. They are almost inseparable, and some rumors maintain that they have become Blood Bonded to each other. They decline to comment on these rumors, and indeed would become quite hostile to any who would be so cretinous as to raise the subject.
