A Gaunt is a wraith who has resolved at least one of their Fetters. Gaunts are the most potent type of wraith - resolving Fetters takes a degree of intellectual and emotional maturity, but it also means that the wraith can travel to Stygia, the Tempest the Far Shores, the Skinlands and the rest of the Underworld with impunity. Gaunts are usually among the older wraiths of the Shadowlands, as resolving a Fetter is not a quick process.
Gaunts whose Fetters are destroyed become Domem.
