French Tremere are the Tremere from France, initially led byLeDuc Regent and then Goratrix in Paris.
History[]
The French Tremere were instrumental in protecting the Échiquier de Rouen and the Ventrue found themselves sharing power in Rouen, where the Tremere established a powerful chantry. The French Tremere manipulated French politics heavily during the Medieval period. Regent Goratrix orchestrated the fall of the Templar Order for his own political gain.
A rumor circulated that Tremere may have also been involved in the death of the King of England Edward II. While the arrow that struck the sovereign in the shoulder was not fatal, it is said that gangrene claimed his life about ten days later. However, the king's surgeons reportedly stated that there was no sign of gangrene, nor even of poison, and that their sovereign complained of excruciating pain, as though something was slowly burrowing its way toward his heart—something that could not be removed without causing his immediate death. A few rare Cainites, familiar with the terrifying effects of Delayed Immobility Shafts (a level 3 Thaumaturgy ritual known as the Stake of Delayed Effect), are convinced that the Usurpers were behind this assassination and the king's slow, agonizing demise.
In 1210, the Ventrue Éon de l’Étoile leads an army deep into the Pyrenees. He has heard rumors that the Templars discovered a powerful relic in Jerusalem and entrusted it to the Cathars so that they would keep it safe. The Albigensian heretics openly claim that the Crucifixion was not an act of divine sacrifice, alleging that they know what really happened on Golgotha and have proof. Éon's quest leads him to root out and destroy many refuges, using torture on mortals and Cainites to uncover the Cathars' secret.
He is joined by Tremere from the Rouen and Tours foundations, allied with Geoffrey du Temple — themselves accompanied by some mages calling themselves "Companions." They take advantage of this personal crusade to discover mage foundations hidden in the valleys, and to eliminate a few Salubri cells along the way. This leads to the discovery and destruction of the powerful foundation of the Mist Ridge belonging to the Order of Hermes, thanks to the betrayal of the mage Grimgroth, who was embraced by Tremere himself following this brilliant coup.
