Cecily Bain is a Brujah formerly of the Anarchs, now Prince of the Twin Cities.

Biography[]

Cecily Bain was born Cecily Banashefski in 1952 in Pinewood, Minnesota, a small rural farm community outside Bemidji. When she was thirteen, her father was severely injured in a farming accident, and her uncle came to stay with the family to help run the farm. At seventeen, Cecily discovered her uncle had been abusing her eight-year-old sister, Karen, and told her mother, who, desperate to not disrupt the status quo, ignored the warnings. Cecily sought help from someone outside her household, making her way to the home of a neighbor rumored to be a witch. Instead, Cecily was introduced to her first Kindred, an Anarch woman who offered her the power to right wrongs herself.

Upon her Embrace, Cecily killed her uncle and mother, and euthanized her suffering father. Her sister, unaware of what had transpired, joined Cecily in escaping to the Twin Cities. Cecily regularly used her ability to cloud minds to keep her sister unaware of reality, which she believed eventually contributed to her susceptibility to dementia. While Cecily and Karen spent most nights engulfed in the Minneapolis hardcore punk music scene, Cecily was also secretly feeding on its members. Cecily became affiliated with the Anarch Movement of the Cities, and actively resisted the Camarilla's attempt at urban domination, headed by Primogen Calder Wendt. Eventually though, Cecily saw the writing on the wall, and realizing she needed some kind of stability to aid her ailing sister, joined the Ivory Tower as one of Prince Samantha Merrain's "dirty boot" enforcers.

In 2021, Cecily was tasked with investigating the Final Death of Prince Merrain, a task which turned out to be little more than a wild goose chase meant to cover up the machinations of Primogen Wendt, who sought to become Prince himself. As if to add insult to injury, Cecily would later be tipped off by King Rat - one of her old Anarch companions - that her adoptive childe Alejandra was in reality a hunter mole, meant to weaken the Kindred of the Twin Cities from within. This infiltration culminated in a climatic battle against the Mortician's Army within the Camarilla stronghold at Galtier Towers, ending with Cecily diablerizing Alejandra to make a statement to the rest of the Court. Later, with the backing of Justicar Ian Carfax, Cecily would become Prince herself, with the Justicar affirming the need for a firm rulership, "lest we eat our own".

Ironically, the Carfax would then go on to perpetuate a scheme that led the Kindred of the Twin Cities directly into conflict with the werewolves of the Great Lakes Pack. In spite of her praxis being only a few nights old, the newly-minted Prince Bain managed to twist the situation to her favor. With the help of her new Court and a few old allies from her Anarch days, she orchestrated events so that the when the Justicar and the Garou clashed, Ian Carfax's destruction would be seen as a casualty of a Lupine incursion - despite it being Cecily who lit the flames that consumed the Tremere. She then quickly negotiated a truce with the surviving werewolves, preventing what would have otherwise been an utterly ruinous war.
