The Evanescence was a surge of nightmare Glamour that was triggered by the events of 9/11 and the following War on Terror, mirroring the Resurgence.
Overview[]
On September 11, 2001, islamistic terrorists crashed two planes into the World Trade Center in New York. Across the globe, travel was restricted, police powers were drastically increased, expansive surveillance programs were put into place, and entire nations were destabilized, all in the name of security. Only a short time afterwards, a red star burned in the sky dreaming, spreading its sinister scarlet light. Named the Eye of Balor, the phenomenon was associated with the Fomorians and changelings feared the worst.
Just like the moon landing thirty-two years earlier, the events in the Autumn World resonated in the Dreaming. Dark glamour spread, opening forgotten trods and allowing dark chimerae, Adhene and Thallain, but also lost Sidhe houses, access into the world again. In the chaos following High King Davids disappearence, the Kithain of Concordia fell into panic, fearing that the Endless Winter was nigh. The Nobles consolidated their holdings and tensions between Commoners and Nobles began to rise again.
While the Red Star eventually vanished, the Shadow Court emerged strengthened from the event. The dark fae portray themselves as advocates of the downtrodden, subtly undermining the customs of fae society.
