Dr Elias Waldmann is the name of a Master Scientist in the Sons of Ether Tradition.
Biography[]
Waldmann is a Promethean, strongly implied to be one of the first of his kind. He and his estranged creator (only ever referred to as Dr. M. Waldmann, believed to be a Voltarian) served as the direct inspiration for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
While M. Waldmann proved not nearly as hostile as his literary counterpart, Elias still opted to flee north from his increasingly deranged and jealous control. After wandering for an unspecified amount of time, he discovered the northern polar entrance to the Hollow Earth. There, he encountered the Goro Monks, who tutored him in Atlantean Science and psychic meditation. Eventually, he awakened (becoming the first technomantic construct in recorded history to do so) and forgave his creator, opting to return home as an equal rather than a test subject. However, by the time he arrived, the elder Waldmann had, in characteristic mad scientist fashion, been murdered by superstitious neighbors.
The heartbroken Waldmann would find his way to Vienna, where he would formally make contact with a Sons of Ether cabal, becoming a respected and high-ranking member of the Tradition and provided many great insights into Promethean creation and Atlantean crystal technology.
At some point, Elias chose to return to the Hollow Earth to further his studies, where he remains to this day. Although he did not personally attend, he did consult on the redirection of the hypercomet Mirzaba at the Etherite Y2K party in a now-supplanted alternate timeline.
