The Earth Frontier Division is a methodology of the Void Engineers.

Overview

Despite the Convention's larger focus on what's 'Out There,' a big part of the convention still remains on Earth. There are still frontiers on the mudball and the EFD makes it their job to explore them. Most of the teams are pretty small and select, and members shuttle between different specializations - "cross-training" if you will.

History

The History of EFD goes back to the Void Seekers in the early days of the Order of Reason. Just because Space became the new frontier doesn't mean that old drive to see what lay over the next mountain didn't remain.

Organization

The EFD operates in several different theaters. the following are only the most well known. If there is someplace on Earth that needs exploring, such as the desserts, there is a team there.

Aquatic Exploration Teams

These Aquanauts, or 'Squids' explore the largest frontier on the planet: the Ocean. You would be surprised how little the Masses affect reality on the Ocean floor or in the deepest trenches. Certain areas of "Deep Ocean" are as mysterious and alien as the Deep Universe. Whole cultures have fallen into the ocean. Creatures exist who've hidden themselves so deeply and completely that they think they'll never be found. But don't underestimate a Void Engineer! The Squids also make use of constructs made by Iteration X and the Progenitors lovingly called Sharks but their actual name is 'Genetically Enhanced Nautical Enforcement Specialist' or GENES.

Cryoregional[1] Specialists

In 1929, Admiral Richard E. Byrd flew over the South Pole and saw a land of lush vegetation, lakes, animals resembling large buffaloes and mammoths, and humans. While his story was suppressed, similar stories surfaced from the North Pole as well. These tales were buried by the NWO but the Cryogenic Specialists, or 'Snowdogs' continue to monitor these areas out of their state-of-the-art Construct called the Big Chill.

Hydrothermal Botanical Mosaic Analysts

The Engineers have been fascinated with Central and South America since the days of the Conquistadors. Even today the rainforests provide endless mysteries, new plants and animal life, and clues to the civilizations that came before the European Conquests. These 'Weedwackers' continue to study and preserve what they can but are receiving a lot of resistance, both from Governments and from the Reality Deviants who seem to be in a war there... a very serious war.

Inaccessible High Elevation Exploration Teams

IHEET explores the mountain peaks, especially in the Himalayas and Andes. There seems to be another war going on in the Himalayas as well and every team sent in is composed of both enforcers and explorers.

Subterranean Exploration Corps

Most legends over the millennia mention underground cities, hells, and even a hollow earth. Most of them are just that: stories. However the 'Groundhogs' send in teams whenever leadership hears rumors of huge cave complexes or underground hideouts filled with Reality Deviants.[2]
