Earl Deams was an Imbued and user of hunter-net, where his username was Shaka74. He was a former military photographer from New Orleans. He is presumed dead.
Relationships[]
Earl maintained a friendship with Soldier91 based on their shared experiences in the Army and worldviews. They parted ways amicably. He had on-going conflicts both on hunter-net and offline with racist hunters such as Jager51 and Alleyman222.
Known Missions[]
Prior to learning about hunter-net and the other Imbued, Earl maintained a personal mission of collecting photographic evidence of links between the undead and the New Orleans Police Department. His cache of evidence is currently housed in a nondescript storage unit, with only he and Soldier91 having the key.
He participated in a mission with several other hunters in New Orleans to track down an arsonist and murderer called Peleus. They had been starting fires in apartment and tenements; Earl and other hunters initially investigated under the premise that this was the work of a supernatural creature. However, when the media reported "gang signs" that turned out to be hunter code it became clear that another Imbued was involved. Earl later caught the hunter, who was shooting African Americans as they ran out of the burning buildings. He froze at the realization that another hunter was behind the killings, and they escaped.
In 2000, Earl visited Haiti on a mission is presumed dead. His posts describing his investigation into Haitian undead is archived in /walkingdead/. While in Haiti, he observed that there more zombies, rots, and spirits than living people. He met a creature he called Phibes who operated a kind of spirit intelligence network. With Phibes's guidance, he became a willing medium for Cecilia, the ghost of a woman whose child was abducted by American soldiers in an extralegal operation. Through Cecilia and Phibes, as well as other leads, he discovered a large farm in the Antibenite Valley housing many buildings full of zombies. The farm appears to have some connection to the Haitian government. Earl's last posts mention a planned expedition to this farm. He is presumed dead because he has made no further posts.
While in Haiti, Earl noticed that veve (voudoun magical glyphs) resembled hunter code. In at least one case, a veve was interpretable as the sign for "death". He suspected that the Messengers want some kind of intermingling of spirit and physical worlds, as appeared to be happening in Haiti.
