Dincer Albayrak is the pseudonym used by the Fulmen of the Ksirafai when he "founded" House Janissary.
Public History[]
Albayrak, a Turkish soldier, awakened as an Orphan in his early 20s. He and several comrades deserted their unit and spent years roaming Central Eurasia, looking for other mages and training them in battle tactics. They eventually formed a cabal called the Janissaries, dedicated to defeating the Order of Reason.
After defeating the Order's Uludag Construct, Albayrak and the Janissaries were invited to join the Order of Hermes under the auspices of House Ex Miscellanea. Albayrak was not initially familiar with Hermetic philosophy, but took to learning with a gusto, even while training his own apprentice, Caeron Mustai. When Albayrak disappeared in 1822, Mustai took over as the new primus of now-House Janissary.[1]
Secret History[]
"Dincer Albayrak" may have been the mage's real name, but this biography was a complete fabrication. Albayrak was the Fulmen of the Ksirafai, the spymasters and secret police of the Order of Reason.[2] When the Pogrom first began, following the Grand Convocation, Albayrak began to doubt the Order's mission; they were purging innocent mages for ideological reasons, not rooting out corruption.[3] The Ksirafai carefully purged the few records of their own existence (and more than a few people who knew about them), then "defeated" their own construct at Uludag, presenting the Order of Hermes with the tale of the noble Orphan prodigy Albayrek.[4][3]
Albayrek shared the truth of the House with Caeron Mustai, tutoring him in the secret legacy that went all the back to the Ixoi, though he himself did not realize Mustai also has a secret: he had already been initiated by a Batini mage and taught the Doctrine of Unity.[3]
