A Demesne is a mage's personal space within the Dreaming.
In order to reach it, a special connection to one's dreams is necessary that can rarely be taught, although a Shallowing can be useful. Powerful mages usually have full control over their dreamland, while lesser mages occasionally have visitors from their subconsciousness. As the access to the Dreaming is not barred by the Avatar Storm, such mages find that they still can visit this part of the Otherworlds.
A mage manifests himself there via the Body of Light rote. Most mages visit it either to use their Demesne as an anchorhead for umbral exploration, to gain an understanding of events to come that reflect in the Dreaming or to face his own emotional turmoils and resolve them.
