- The festival of Winter Solstice. Celebrated by the Verbena (which they associate with the Sphere of Matter)[1][2][3][4] and the Celestial Chorus[5]. Many Verbena gather in the Winter Castle to celebrate.[6]

- Pax Hermetica. In the small German settlement of Durenmar, the Order of Hermes is formally founded based on principles of Hermeticism. The twelve Founding Houses are: House Bjornaer, House Bonisagus, House Criamon, House Diedne, House Flambeau, House Jerbiton, House Mercere, House Merinita, House Guernicus, House Tremere, House Tytalus, and House Verditius. Although the component Houses change nearly constantly, the Order as a whole lasts surprisingly unscathed until Armageddon hits in 2004.[7][8][9][10]

- The current b’ak’tun is scheduled to come to an end, and the thirteenth is scheduled to begin. According to the Popol Vuh, the previous age of creation ended the day before a thirteenth b’ak’tun, and the current one began on that day.[19]

- Mike Dawson "becomes." He touched Calliope and was "rendered immaculate." At the later trial, the prosecution lawyer asks if Calliope ate Mike. Calliope says no, and is later declared not-guilty.[20]
